#Apple text message forwarding no code 2017 registration
Looks to me someone the iMessage registration with my original number is "stuck" - I saw on one of the Apple Support pages that you can manually de-register a phone no from iMessage - don't know if that would work in this case. Will be interesting to see if the forwarding continues to work after I return home and reinsert my original SIM card. So iMessage Forwarding is now working from my 6S+ to my iPhone 5 and MBP.
#Apple text message forwarding no code 2017 activation code
It duly went through all the iMessage activation process for the new number, and I just tried toggling the message forwarding function, and guess what - the activation code appeared on my iPhone 5 with a valid code! I entered it and it worked. The only thing I didn't try was to recover / restore the phone from a previous backup - part of the reason is I didn't have a very recent backup and would loose a couple of months data, and I thought recovering from iCloud backup could take too much time.Īnyway, I am now overseas, and I had a foreign SIM card, which I inserted into the phone. I tried all methods/steps as per my original message - tried Reset All Settings (again), Reset Network Settings, remove and re-add iCloud accounts, reset the phone, etc but to no avail.
#Apple text message forwarding no code 2017 how to
The only thing I haven't done is to sign out of iCloud on my iPhone 5 (the "receiving phone" in this case) for fear it might break text message forwarding from the iPhone 5 to the other devices.Īny one have any ideas how to get the text message forwarding working again? What do you all make out of this? I have tried disabling iMessage and reenabling, restarted the iPhones and even signed out of iCloud on the 6S Plus and signed in again, but to no avail. See the attached screenshot for the message.

the full message reads "To send and receive your iPhone text messages from "" on this iPhone, enter the code "(null)" on your iPhone now. On the iPhone 5, I did receive a Pop up, however, instead of showing a proper code the code that was show in "(null)" - i.e. I then tried to re-activate Text Message forwarding, first to my iPhone 5, but toggling the Text Message forwarding "switch" next ot my iPhone 5.A message popped up on the 6S Plus asking me to enter the code shown on the iPhone to allow text messages to be forwarded. I re-enabled it and got it activated again. After the phone resets itself, I found that iMessage was disabled and so it text message forwarding from the 6S Plus. Consequently text message forwarding frrom my iPhone 5 to the other devices were also configured and working properly.įor some reason, I had to do a "reset all settings" on my 6S Pl us over the weeked (I was encountering bad battery life and one of the recommendations was to try a reset all settings, which I did). I have enabled iMessage of all of the and text message forwarding from my 6S Plus to the iPhone 5, iPad2 and Retina MBP was working OK. and iPad2 and a Retina Macbook Pro, and all of the devices are signed in using the same Apple ID. I also have an iPhone 5 and other devices - i.e.

How do I resolve this issue? As I compare the screenshot from my iPhone with the one provided in the Apple knowledge base article, it appears that Show Contact Photos toggle is missing too.I have an iPhone 6S Plus running IOS 10.3.2. The Text Message Forwarding option is clearly missing:

Here's the screenshot from the Messages setting. I don't recall this option requiring some other setting to be enabled in iPhone. Is this feature removed in iOS 11.3? I remember using it after upgrading to iOS 11. I am logged in with it on both my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. I have only one Apple ID which I use for everything. However, when I try to enable it now, I can no longer see the option available under Settings app → Messages (I'm running iOS 11.3). I remember having used this feature for a while with both iOS 10 and iOS 11 on my iPhone. I wish to enable Text Message Forwarding to send and receive SMS from my MacBook Pro (running macOS High Sierra 10.13.4).
